Born in 1978 in Trenton, Ontario Laura was the daughter of an International shoe designer. As a little girl, Laura was always fascinated by her father’s work and artistic talent. He would bring her to fashion events, and little Laura always wandered off to watch the makeup artists backstage create their magic. Every eye shape, facial structure, skin tone, texture, and the array of colours that the imagination could run free with. So many faces, so much diversity and so her love for the makeup industry began. She studied at a young age different faces from pictures in magazines to old family photos and would recreate them in her secret little sketchbook she carried everywhere.
After high school, she enrolled in the Canadian Aesthetic Academy. There she trained on skincare, makeup, and other aesthetic services. But it was evident that her love for makeup remained the strongest. Upon receiving her diploma, she went straight to work. Working on anyone she crossed paths with to perfect her skills as a makeup artist. With her knowledge on skin care and makeup, Laura always kept a watchful eye on all the products she used from their ingredients, quality, price point, and location of manufacturing. Laura’s collection of cosmetics was so vast it took up so many spaces in her house. Hence the name Makeup Addict.
Over the years, Laura has built a steady clientele and worked on numerous brides and clients, which led her to further her expertise and have countless opportunities to work on larger projects. As a result, she has been featured in magazines for her artistic talent and her brand of makeup. Laura (Makeup Addict) was also 2019 corporate sponsor for the Vaughan Film Festival and the personal makeup artist for the event.
During her time home with her kids, Laura still kept a watchful eye on all products, especially when it came to products used by her children. As her youngest was a little girl and loved playing with makeup or sneaking into it, it was then that Laura realized she felt the need to create her brand of cosmetics. Laura wanted to produce a high-end product locally and have quality control at her fingertips. She also wanted a product line that was safe, paraben free, cruelty-free, vegan while still having high pigmented colours that wouldn’t fade.
As Laura returned to makeup artistry, and after much research, accurate product testing, colour swatching, Laura finally launched something that she could proudly call Canadian and above all, a brand that anyone could create their own style of beauty. Trendsetting, highly pigmented textures, and combinations produced with the highest standards of quality and ingredients. This began a fantastic journey for Laura.
Welcome to the world of Makeup Addict. Beauty for every day and everyone!
